Khosla Family Agrees to Purchase Seahawks

The family of venture capitalist Vinod Khosla has reached an agreement to acquire the Seattle Seahawks for 9.6 billion dollars. The transaction, which remains subject to approval by NFL team owners, marks a significant shift in league ownership as the Khosla family prepares to enter the professional sports market.

Under the proposed terms, Neeru Khosla will serve as the controlling owner of the franchise, while their son, Neal Khosla, is expected to assume a prominent leadership role within the organization. The acquisition follows Vinod Khosla’s recent entry into professional sports ownership, having purchased a minority stake in the San Francisco 49ers in 2025.

Vinod Khosla, a co-founder of Sun Microsystems and founder of Khosla Ventures, has established a portfolio heavily weighted toward artificial intelligence and green technology, including early investments in OpenAI and DoorDash. The transition of the Seahawks to the Khosla family represents one of the largest valuations in NFL history, reflecting the continued appreciation of major professional sports assets.
