The Colorado Rapids are set to host CF Montreal on Saturday in Commerce City, Colorado, as the club awaits the arrival of several key new signings. Colorado aims to integrate these acquisitions to strengthen its squad depth, particularly following a recent draw and player departures.

Squad Reinforcements Delayed by Visa Clearances

During the secondary transfer window, Colorado significantly invested in its roster. The club acquired winger Morgan Whittaker from Middlesbrough for a record $10.7 million, designating him a key player. Additionally, the Rapids secured forward Sayed Abu Farkhi from Maccabi Tel Aviv and winger Ibrahim Sadiq from AZ Alkmaar. These new players are currently awaiting visa clearances, which has left the team with limited options.

The team's attacking depth was further reduced by the transfer of Rafael Navarro, who led Colorado with 10 goals. Navarro moved to St. Louis City for an MLS-record fee of $12 million. Coach Matt Wells noted that the team's frontline is currently understaffed while awaiting the new arrivals.

Recent Draw Exposes Gaps

The Rapids (10-12-2, 32 points) played to a 1-1 draw against Austin FC on Wednesday. Paxten Aaronson scored his fifth goal of the season in the 22nd minute, but Austin equalized in the 79th minute, highlighting the team's challenges.

Further complicating matters, defender Reggie Cannon will miss the upcoming match due to a one-game suspension for yellow-card accumulation. Midfielder Youssef Maziz also departed the Austin match in the 27th minute with "quad tightness," as described by Coach Wells.

Maziz has provided two assists in six appearances for the Rapids this season. Wells stressed the importance of having all players available during this crucial period of the season.

CF Montreal Faces Eastern Conference Struggles The Colorado Rapids CF Montreal (5-13-6, 21 points) enters the match with the weakest record in the Eastern Conference, having gone winless in its last four games with a 0-3-1 record. The team suffered a 2-1 home loss to Charlotte on Wednesday, conceding an equalizer three minutes after Daniel Rios' 34th-minute goal and then the match-winner in the 81st minute.

Despite a slight improvement in August with a 1-1-3 record, midfielder Matty Longstaff called for greater intensity from the squad. Longstaff, who will also miss Saturday's match due to yellow-card accumulation, emphasized the need for the team to be more clinical offensively and better organized defensively to secure victories. He pointed to the team's collective difficulty in consistently scoring, assisting, and preventing goals.
